Is this a good healthy habitat to raise a ball python ?
This is a 20 gallon long zilla tank for my 9 month old normal female ball "Venus". I have 3 sources of heat, one 75 watt basking lamp, one 75 watt nocturnal bulb, and a heating pad. The pad is connected to my zilla temperature controller, and always on 90 degress below her log hide. She also has a cork branch to climb or rub upon for shed (along with her hide). The humidity is kept in by a towel covering most of her tank, also mist it twice a day. I put sphagnum moss in a topper with holes for extra humidity wich is always kept at 60%. She eats a rat fuzzy once sometimes twice a week. her substrate is aspen, its kinda dark in the picture.

It sounds great. I wouldn't recommend more than 75 watts for a 20 gallon tank, plus a heating pad will help her digest her food, even though they regulate their body temperature from above, not below, so you're good on that. Aspen bedding is fine, just don't soak it too much and remove bedding that's drowned in water. You don't want your snake to get sick that way. I don't know about the towel though. Keeping humidity in the tank is one thing, the level should be sub-tropical but ventilation is important too. As for the sphagnum moss, it can be used to retain humidity but easily retains spore-infected bacterium that results in fungal infections. It's just like having a woodsy substrate that is constantly damp in a snake enclosure, giving them respiratory problems. If you don't like the smell of damp moss or have allergies, then dry out your moss every so often. I generally don't re use the same moss when sanitizing habitats.
