House Rent Signs
When do you sign the lease when you rent out a house?
Do you sign it as soon as your credit is approved or when you move in? And do you pay your deposit when you sign the lease? And do you pay the first months rent when you move in or when you sign the lease?
This all depends on the landlord's policies. The law does not dictate how this must be done. The law only states what is allowed to be done. This also depends on how long it is between your being approved and the date you want to move in.
Our policy is to have tenants sign the lease on the day you move in. If this is going to be more than a few days from the day you are approved then we take a deposit to hold. When you move in this amount goes toward your total deposit. You then pay the rest of the deposit and first months rent at move in.
