Horn Music Instrument
Does everyone get to pick their instrument in Music class, in high school?
I'm going to start high school as a freshman, in about a week. I was wondering, if I'll get to choose the instrument I'm striving to play in music class because I really don't want to play a horn or something. Like if I don't already know how to play will they give the drums to someone else who already has more experience than me? Please, tell me how it works.
I live in Ontario, Canada, by the way. So since it may vary if you were to live in, say the United States, I'd prefer an answer from someone who lives near here, you know. But still all answers are appreciated since maybe it's the same after all, and just to know is kind of soothing... I guess, haha
If the music lessons are publicly funded, then the choices will be made from the instruments available.
If the pupils provide the instruments, then they can choose, with the proviso that there is a teacher available for that instrument.

Horn (Instrument) $89.22 The horn is a brass instrument consisting of about 12 feet (3.7 m) of tubing wrapped into a coil with a flared bell. A musician who plays the horn is called a horn player (or less frequently, a hornist). Descended from the natural horn, the instrument is informally known as the French horn, but since 1971 the International Horn Society has recommended the horn. Horns have valves, operated with the left hand, to route the air into extra tubing to change the pitch.
