ever heard of od ?
i belong to a part of india which is known as exotic north east. this part is highly neglected by mainstream india and people living here are in many respects not like the mainstream indian. i would focus on one aspect... music. while the rest of india plays their own tunes and folk songs this part of india is obsessed with rock n roll and metallica... bob dyalan is a household name here... eric clapton, joe satriani ....they are worshippped here.... in every street corner you would a find a teenager with his acoustic guitar self absorbed ...but the other side of the story is every now and then i find a twenty soimething guy sobbing in the corner of a beer bar..he lost his friend some days back. he died of OD. Over Dose of drugs and alcohol .... why is this so ?
Lots of people die from that in America too. Some of them do it intentionally to kill themselves. Others just miscalculate how much their body can handle or get drugs that are stronger than they thought.
When people accept rock gods as their idols, they often pick up the vices of the musicians they worship. They do this even knowing that often the drugs are what killed their hero. It is good to enjoy the music and love the men and women who make the music but it goes too far sometimes.
That's not to blame the music or the musicians for what another person does with his or her life. A person can be a drug addict or OD without ever hearing rock n roll. Everyone is responsible for their own choices.
