Gold Testing, How to do it?
You are planning to buy a gold jewelry but you wanted to make sure that it is a true gold jewelry and not just a plated one. Do you wanted to know how to test a gold jewel?

The easiest way to test gold without buying any tools is by rubbing the jewelry across a piece of unglazed porcelain. If you saw a black streak it's a fake gold but if it has a yellow streak then it is gold. But, most of the jewelers prefer to have gold testing tools to check the quality of the jewel.
The first tool that a jeweler must have in testing gold is a gold tester. It test gold with assurance and it will only take a couple of seconds for you to know if the gold jewel that you have is gold or not. It is very easy to operate because it has an electronic readout that indicates the karat. It will show the karat gold from 6-18k or it will indicate "Not Gold" or "Platinum". Because it indicates the karat it is also the first tool to use in indicating the karat of a certain jewel.
You can also purchase a set of testing kit it includes gold test kit box with testing acid, gold test stone and test needles. The testing acid can be used to test the appearance of the gold. A real gold will not change its color but a fake gold will become dark in color. The gold test stone works like unglazed porcelain where you can rub the jewel. And the needles can be used in scratching the jewel to check it with the testing acids.
Using those tools you can already identify a true gold and not. You can also consider the color of the jewel that you will buy remember that a true gold has a lighter color and satin in appearance while a fake gold appears too shiny and yellow.
