Efforts That You Use to Succeed in Toilet Training Nighttime
Toilet training is a very important aspect of the growing up of your child. In fact it is one of the first important milestones in your child's life. Care has to be therefore taken to do this at the right time in the right manner. With a little extra effort, it is advisable to train your child with his sense of independence in mind that means making him do it on his own with gentle guidance from you.
Mastering toilet training nighttime, usually comes only after the child is day time toilet trained.
Wetting the mattress or bed is quite common among all toddlers. It is very important on the parent's part not to punish or reprimand the child as this will have a negative impact on them and postpone any of their natural efforts to toilet train themselves. In fact most of the children who are below five years wet their bed at night. Patience is the key in their toilet training nighttime.
Toilet training nighttime therefore, must be considered a separate effort altogether. Just because your child is daytime toilet trained does not automatically mean he or she will not wet his or her bed at night.
One good idea is to make your child sleep with their nappies on. Only after they wake up with dry nappies over a period of time can you be sure he has completed his toilet training nighttime.
Keep talking to your child about getting up and going to the toilet to urinate till they start waking you up at night. They may even call out in their sleep. So for a period of time when you are training them, it is very important for you to be with your child and watch out for any calls.
You can prepare a few things to enable your child to stay dry at night. One thing you can do is to gently train children to remove and put on their own pyjamas by making them practice pulling them up and down. You can even discuss with your child as to what he prefers. Work out a procedure with them asking them as to whether they would like to wake you up to go to the toilet, or prefer to do it themselves. You can even suggest initially having a potty in the bedroom.
You may have to make an extra effort talking to them and discussing with them about all this for a considerable time before it actually starts showing results.
It is a good idea to put a waterproof mattress protector till they are trained. One more thing is in case your child gets up and tries to go to the toilet on his own at night, the toilet must be easily accessible to him and there must be enough light to enable him to see properly in the dark.
Other things that could help in the toilet training nighttime are to take your child to the toilet just before bed as a habit. Remind your child gently to wake you up in case they need help to reach the toilet any time at night. It is not a good idea to pressurize your child in this. Allow them to train themselves on their own even though this may take a little extra time and effort on your part.
