Firefighter Fire Can a Wisconsin EMT/firefighter leave work for fire calls?
Can a wisconsin emt/firefighter leave work for fire calls? or can the be late for work due to a call? im looking for written wisconsin law. iv looked but i cant find any.
it is up to the people that you work for... the last job i had would let me leave sometimes, i never got written up for being late... but i had a friend who worked at the sheriff dept and they threatened to fire him because he was late... the job i have now will allow me to go as long as we do not get a call, and if we do, i just have to leave the fd scene and come back... ask your employer...

Going to join USAF to be a Firefighter. Fire Control can have a waiting list. How long might I have to wait?
By the way, I won't be signing until October or November, if that matters.
My son had to enlist via the Delayed Entry Program, to assure he would have a seat in the Aviation Electronics A- and C-schools he wanted to be in 18 months later!
Talk to a recruiter and find out if DEP is an option for you, to get a seat in that class. At the beginning of the fiscal year, so July 1, 2008, they will find out what seats they have available for their recruiting district for the fiscal year 2009-2010. You may want to DEP now to get one of those seats!!
Fire Control may work differently, and I would guess it is in high demand. but I also know they have budgets for their classes, and that means they have the number of seats per recruiting district all mapped out. check it out.. it may influence when and how you enlist.
