how is feeding supplements hard on a horses stomach?
i've been feeding my horses multi vitamins, then hoof and joint supplements. people keep telling me that supplements that aren't "needed" can be hard on the horses stomach? is that true? and whats the side effects?
I'm not really sure what they're saying, because if a horse needs that supplement it shouldn't be hard on their stomach.
I think what they're getting at is don't give your horse supplements if the vet hasn't recommended it.. Don't prescribe the supplements yourself basically.

This is more about fittening rather than stuffing him with chemicals, which btw are not legal in any riding event! And in my view, not safe.
Just ask the vet for a fittening regime - he knows the horse best, or your trainer.
