-well you can win tickets to go see them live on a talk show and you get presale tickets. um it says that there's offers for meet & greets so that's good. also when you sign up you are eligible to go to the parties they hold.

For Fans Of “The Wire:” New Series, Same Creators, Potential For Dramatic Success
Leave it to HBO to give serious television heavyweights a second chance at doing what they do best. First, it was the opportunity for the writer/creator of “The Sopranos” to try his luck at a period piece, with the latest potential-blockbuster series from the channel, “Boardwalk Empire.” And now, fans of “The Wire” don’t have to wonder what would happen if the series creators tried out another project: it’s finally happening.
For those who have never bothered to tune in and catch an episode of “The Wire,” it might be recommended to flip on your satellite tv and see if HBO has any episodes on demand. A truly fantastic version of the drama, “The Wire” could have very well been a feature-length movie destined for Oscar success, but instead it was a long-running show that only improved as the seasons went on. From examining the inner workings of small and medium-time drug dealers in the Baltimore projects to offering a look inside the dying art of newspaper publishing, “The Wire” knew just how to weave together very real human dramas, offering a look at how people manage to make it in this world. Thus, after six seasons, “The Wire” was a critical and popular success, with millions tuning in to see what would happen next. Its abrupt sign-off left a serious void in the world of quality programming on satellite tv, and its fans were genuinely crestfallen at the fast ending to what was such an incredible franchise.
However, all hope is not lost for those who miss the trials and tribulations of Baltimore, only this time the drama is coming from a different zip code. While some fans of “The Wire” found the creator’s take on adapting a true-life story from inside the current Iraq War, “Generation Kill,m” a little too heavy even for premium channels on satellite tv, this new show “Treme” promises an entirely different vibe.
Focused on the lives of a variety of New Orleans residents, most of whom are musicians, in the Big Easy post-Hurricane Katrina, the show has the potential to be just as evocative and incredible as the best moments of “The Wire.” Adding to the show’s potential is the fact that some of “The Wire”’s best actors are going to be hitting the small screen again, including Wendell Piece, Clarke Peters, and Melissa Leo. Kim Dickins, Rob Brown, and Khandi Alexander are also supposed to make appearances.
In any other season, there would be no competition for “Treme,” but right now, HBO is seriously focused on grabbing its intellectual audience again, and is hoping to hit it big with the Scorcese-directed pilot for “Boardwalk Empire.” The worst possible scenario for those fans of “The Wire” who are hoping to see “Treme” become the most successful thing to hit satellite tv in 2010 is HBO getting blind sided by its attempts to make back the money it has already pumped into “Boardwalk Empire,” leaving little to nothing to help boost the profile of “Treme.”
however, if history is any indicator, it will be downright impossible to ignore the brilliance of the performances, writing, and rich source material that will combine to make a truly incredible and gripping portrayal of life after a legitimately trying--and contemporary--tragedy. Kudos to whoever green-lighted this, as it could be the next great program on satellite tv, so long as it is properly taken care of by the network that should be throwing all of its weight behind it.
