Fall City Beer

I have the chance to stay in southern Germany (Dinkelsbhuel) in the Fall. I have a lot of questions.?
I want to see London, Paris, the Bordeaux region of France and as many cities in Italy as I possibly can. What are the must see places in Germany? What is the cheapest way to see the cities I've mentioned (I'm in my 50's so the youth hostel is out
). We're going in October. Is it cold by then in Germany? Will there be snow yet in the Alps? Is there a really great travel service or agency that we could use? I'm excited but it's like traveling to another universe for me. I love different cultures and foods. I want to taste food, beer and wine all the way through Europe as well as see the sights. Suggestions? Tips? Advice? Thanks.
First of all, how long are you playing on staying? It's always best to focus on one area first and then explore others. Dinkelsbuehl is in Bavaria, one of Germany's most beautiful states. If you go in October, you must see the Oktoberfest in Munich (lasts until October 7). Also, a must see is Neuschwanstein, the famous castle of Mad King Ludwig of Bavaria. If you like beer, wine, bratwurst, and historic sights, then Bavaria has a lot to offer.
If you want to see other European countries, I suggest you take the plane, it's the cheapest method or you could also drive. I wouldn't take the train; it's too expensive.
Regarding accommodation, if you want to save money, you should stay at Bed&Breakfast houses. Hotels in Europe can be quite expensive.
Also, instead of going to London, think about going to Switzerland. The Swiss Alps are absolutely gorgeous.
Hope that helps.

Falls City Bottleman Speaks Out!
Watch Out for Falling Beer Bottles
Have you ever planned a getaway or family vacation? No doubt you know the hassle of trying to find the right deal. 10 years ago, one had TV travel commercials, travelogues, or travel guides and books from your local bookstore or library. Or maybe you stopped by the local travel agency for recommendations and bookings.
Once in hand the experience became even better while trying to find the right airline or the best dates for the getaway (assuming your employer approved the dates you had in mind). But did you ever stop and wonder what might go wrong when you get to your destination?
A few years back a young boy came to the beach to surf with his father not realizing that it was the last thing they would do on earth together. The boy was bitten by a shark and died a few hours later due to a massive loss of blood. This does not sound like the getaway that was planned … maybe for weeks.
Just this past week I was roller blading down the boardwalk while my son was riding his bicycle on the bike path in Virginia Beach when I heard what sounded like a bottle exploding on the ground close to my son. When I stopped and looked up, I saw people on a balcony at the Hilton about 9 to 10 floors up acting like they didn't do what they just did. I have lived here all my life and it is not the first time this has happened to me.
The Hilton here is fairly new. The idea of the city was to make a wonderful place to bring a family, into a business venture. What used to be a nice park has been turned into a high-class drunkards den. Every evening people are there getting drunk and now appear to be carrying the beer on into the morning hours and disposing of their bottles off the balcony.
What was a wonderful time with my son out at the beach almost turned to tragedy. I am very thankful that I was able to go home with my son that day. He could have been seriously injured or killed.
Now I am not a kill-joy who would never take a risk. I haven't stopped flying because some planes crash and I haven't stopped riding a motorcycle because people are killed on them. My advice is to stay alert whether on an outing to the beach or a vacation in Italy and have a plan of action in place in case of injury.
Finally if your plans are to come here to Virginia Beach, we have a multitude of better hotels than the Hilton. Happy Getaways!
