Iran and Iraq plan to develop oilfields that straddle their borders. Iraq will pump crude to Iraq's refineries deepening commercial ties between the two oil producers. An agreement is to be signed in a few months.Both countries will pump the crude jointly. Iraq will soon sign similar agreements with Syria and Kuwait. Both sides will build pipelines to carry Iraq crude to Iran's Southern-Iraq refineries. Iran will also buy an Iraqi refinery which pumps about a half mil. a day. Iran also looking at Kirkuk Crude and Basra Light Crude.
The two sides are looking to strengthen ties it appears.
But of course these moves tangle with the Bush's considering Iran part of the "Axis of Evil" and repeated accusations that "Tehran is meddling with the affairs in Iraq."
