USB tv tuner for a laptop?
I have a SAMSUNG-LN32A450 and a laptop with an external hdd id like to turn into a dvr which hauppauge tuner is better for this a WinTV-HVR-1950 or WinTV-HVR-950Q or is there a better one im unaware of for around $100-150. Thanks
They are all good. The software that is bundled with it is the deal breaker.

You may find something of interest in here...was looking for an article that tells you an entire list of new (and some not so new) parts that when put together give you an entirely self contained system that needs no extra things to make it a complete system...other than a HDTV of course...don't know that this is the article I was trying to find, but may have info you'd like...
If you already have that 5600 then it would be pleanty adequate for what you are doing...but the price is cheaper on the 6000 if you are about to buy it...
I gave you that link because I'm not experianced in htpc...but the mobo thing...
you might spend a couple of $ extra on a mobo that has an AM3 socket...
on some of the sites that sell parts they list them as (asside from the ones that only have AM3) AM2,AM2+ and AM3 and on some sites or maybe it's different boards, they list them as AM2, AM2+(AM3 capable)...in any case look at the CPU's that are supported by the mobo and be sure that it supports the Athlon II and Phenom II
if you do plan to up-grade because an AM2 (only) mobo won't give you any place to up-grade to...and the CPU's made for the AM2+ were made to be inexpensive.
They aren't really much of an up-grade...so a mobo that covers all three sockets is
what will give you the most up-grade capabilities (the Phenom II 550 is an AM3 and cost right at $100.00....in fact let me give you another link...

Unless you already have the Athlon 64, this may be right at or just over what you planned to spend on the mobo and CPU...
