Can any "old timers" shed some light on this story please?
I was reading on a Celtic forum yesterday that in the late 1950's, Celtic were one vote away from being expelled from the Scottish league due to protests, mainly from Hibs and Dundee, over the Tricolor being flown. The casting vote was given to Rangers who asked for Celtic to be kept in the league as they never found anything offensive about the flag. While the vote was taking place, Celtic were provisionally accepted into the English 4th division.
Just wondering if anyone knew anything more about this and why do you think Rangers took this decision?
Also, if something similar was to happen again, do you think the English leagues would be as forthcoming?

hello anne marie nice to see you back there was an old firm game played at parkhead which rangers won and theere was trouble at the celtic end late on in the game when there was an inquiry later on some dopey judge said the flying of the irish flag may have provoked trouble but when sir robert kelly pointed out that the only trouble makers that day were celtic fans then it could not have been the flag that provoked the trouble the sfa jumped on the bandwagon and used the than hibs chairman to try and suspend celtic if the flag was not taken down but eventually with rangers backing the sfa backed down
