Cue Stick
How do you know what type of tip you have on your cue stick?
I just got a 20oz. $140 cue stick made from the Liberty Group and I am wondering how I can tell why type of tip I have on it.
Also, if it is not a good tip, what are good types of tips to get?
Actually, I think it is made by Players
Contact the company that made the stick and ask them what kind it is. I prefer a good hard tip because they last a long time and they don't tend to mushroom out on me. I use LePro tips on my shooting cues and Triangle tips on my jump and break cues. These are hard leather tips and Iv'e never had a problem with them.I have never heard of a liberty group pool cue so you may have to ask the person you bought it from who actually made it. Pool Cue Maintenance Accessories
Pool cues are tapered sticks and a sporting equipment used to hit the cue ball during games of billiard, snooker etc. Pool cues require a lot of maintenance and there are a number of accessories that can be used in the maintenance of these sticks. The different parts of a stick are shaft, tip, ferrule, bumper, butt and joint. Each part requires protection and care. There are tip tappers and tip shapers, as well as filers since the tip has a tendency to spread out (commonly called mushrooming) after a long usage. There are liquids that can be applied to prevent mushrooming. There are separate tips too that are available and the old tip can be replaced if it gets damaged too badly.
Cue holders are also important as accessories because keeping the cues in a proper manner goes a long way towards its maintenance. Keeping the leaning against the wall of the cabinet is the worst thing to do. It affects the overall balance of the cue and particularly harms the tip. Keeping them in the cue holders eliminates these problems right away.
There are burnishing fluids too that are available which can block the small pores that appear over time on the cue stick. A coat of the burnish has quite long lasting results .There are talc available for players particularly for those whose hand sweat too much. Usage of the talc actually protects the cue from excessive sweat which harms cues in the long run and no amount of chalk usage afterwards can restore the cue to its original state. So it is better to prevent the harm by using talc.
There are special quality towels also that are used to wrap and carry cues around. It is especially useful for people who travel a lot. Cue reach or extensions that can be attached to cues too are popular accessories. They are attached to cues for further reach and a better game. Chalk is perhaps the most commonly used accessory or cue sticks. Different varieties of chalk in different colors too are sold along with cue sticks. Joint protectors are also commonly used to store the joints and to prevent them from being exposed to moisture excessively. Many players go for cue repairing kits which consist of the basic tools and instrument needed for day to day maintenance of cues.
