Cream Cone Concession
Circle Geometry?
I am having a hard time with questions like these. When it is just the circle alone I am good to go, but in this case the cone is overlapping part of the circle... Please help me by showing all your work. Thanks so much.

A mural of a scoop of ice cream inside an ice cream cone is to be painted on the side of a concession stand. The radius of the icecream is 25.0cm and the radius of the top of the cone is 20.0cm
a) calculate the total area for the ice cream scoop circle
b) calculate the central angle determined by the arc of the ice cream inside the cone
c) calculate the area of the sector ACB (A is on end point of the top of the cone, C is the center of the ice cream scoop and B is the other end point of the top of the cone)
d) Calculate the area of the triangle that ACB forms
e) calculate the area of ice cream to be painted.
Surface Area of scoop = 4pir^2 = 2500 cm^2 (This includes that part of the circle hidden inside the cone).
Central angle = 2 arcsin (.8) = 106.26 degrees.
Area of sector ABC = 106.26/360*pi*25^2 = 579 56 cm^2
Area triangle ABC = 20*sqrt(25^2-20^2)=300cm^2
The area of the segment of the circle hidden inside the cone is 579.56-300m = 279.56cm^2.
Thus the amount of ice cream to be painted is 2500 - 279.56 = 2220.44 cm^2

Smaller quantity or larger price increase?
I own an ice cream concession. The cost of doing business is going up. I need to raise prices by about 15%. I can also use smaller bowls, cups and cones. I could do a combination of both.
Would you notice a "medium" cup went from 4 oz to 3.5 oz? For example I could reduce the size like this and only increase from $1.70 to $1.85 for this product. I could keep it 4 oz, but then have to choice but to go up to $1.95.
The larger product, it will be easier to conceal the smaller size, going from a 16 oz drink to a 14 oz drink be hardly noticeable. Likewise going from 24 oz to 20 oz may not be very noticeable.
What will the customer be more willing to accept? Thanks.
As a consumer, I don't like the idea that businesses like yours don't have to state the quantity of their products. When I go to the supermarket and they reduce a "half gallon" of ice cream from 64 oz to 56 oz, and reduce the size of the frozen pizza I buy from 24 oz to 21.75 oz., at least it is easy to notice because the weight is printed right on the box. Although with the drinks people can check the size from the bottom of the cups, but not until after they buy it (unless they ask first).
If you have a lot of regular customers, enough of them might notice and then be more annoyed because of the dishonesty. If most of your customers just stop by once in a great while, they probably won't notice.
People who are willing to waste $1.70 on a tiny 4 oz cup of ice cream (especially in this economy) will probably be willing to pay $1.95. Also, if you both shrank the portions and raised the prices, that would be doubly annoying. If people complain, you should just explain how your prices have gone up and you had no choice, and that you were considering shrinking the portions but though that was dishonest.
With what has been going on lately, a lot of food businesses have been raising prices, so your price increase probably isn't out of line. Also, if you're concerned about losing customers, do you really need to raise prices by as high as you say? Has the cost of ice cream really gone up by 6.25 cents per ounce? I can buy ice cream for 5.34 cents per ounce in the supermarket when it is on sale for $2.99 for 56 oz, and you are raising your price by more than the entire cost of what I can buy it for. I thought that the drinks (especially soda) are almost pure profit. Are you really saving more than a few pennies by giving your customers a few less ounces of soda and risk having them feel cheated?
Maybe your rent or other indirect costs are going up and that is why. Anyway, I think you should just raise your prices and not try to reduce portion sizes.
