Coors Light Sign
What is the moral and polite response when a gay guy buys you a drink in a bar, and your not gay?
I was in a out of town bar with a co-worker when the bartender puts another Coors light in front of me. At first, I was expecting some hot lady sending it my way, but found out it was from a guy at the end of the bar.
Not to be rude, I waved thank you to him. He must have taken this as a sign to come over and moved down the bar. He was a decent enough guy and all, clean and proper looking. I thanked him, told him I was 1-not gay, and 2- married ( it seemed more important that way )
I offered to pay for the drink, or buy him what he was drinking to compensate for it. He excused himself and moved on.
My friend, who I now have to by drinks for for the rest of my life to keep his mouth shut, said I should have at least danced with him once.
Now I have a complex about possibly looking gay. I am however happy he chose me over my friend.
Was this handled properly?
It was not a gay bar, or if it was , it was cleverly disguised. There were plenty of women there.

Its really not that bog of a deal and i really dont think the situation could have been handled any better.
As for being worried you "look" gay. This just means to me, that your apparently really well dressed and clean cut. Thats nothing to be ashamed of. My husband would have bragged about it to me.
No worries. I only wish that there was more people out there who could handle situations more dignified like your example.
