Cone of Depression $71.7 A cone of depression occurs in an aquifer when groundwater is pumped from a well. In an unconfined aquifer, this is an actual depression of the water levels. In confined aquifers, the cone of depression is a reduction in the pressure head surrounding the pumped well. When a well is pumped, the water level in the well is lowered. By lowering this water level, a gradient occurs between the water in the surrounding aquifer and the water in the well. Because water flows from high to low water levels or pressure, this gradient produces a flow from the surrounding aquifer into the well. As the water flows into the well, the water levels or pressure in the aquifer around the well decrease. The amount of this decline becomes less with distance from the well, resulting in a conicalshaped depression radiating away from the well. This, in appearance, is similar to the effect one sees when the plug is pulled from a bathtub. This conicalshaped feature is the cone of depression. The TaylorMade Tour Burner TP driver head's exceptionally high MOI makes it extremely stable and forgiving on off-centre hits. The Tour Burner TP's clubface is engineered 2° open, while the standard Tour Burner's face is square. That benefit, combined with the advantage provided by TaylorMade's renowned Inverted Cone clubface technology, results in even higher ball speed on off-centre hits. Inverted Cone Technology, characterized by a shallow cone milled directly onto the inner side of the clubface, changes the way the face behaves at impact so that a larger area of the face delivers higher ball speed.
The combined benefits of the Tour Burner TP driver's high MOI and Inverted Cone Technology result in what TaylorMade calls "effective MOI," or "eMOI," that exceeds 5800 (the USGA's limit on MOI is 5900).
