Cable TV channels have clear picture but static for sound?
I have a RCA TV that is about 20-24" in width, and probably at least 10+ years old. It is in great conditon but the sound has gone bad all of a sudden. The picture is great, however, the sound is static on all of the channels. If I play a DVD or VHS movie with the attached device, it is perfectly fine. The TV is older so I just have a cable attached to the TV directly to the wall, so no cable box. I'm going to try a new cable cord to see if that's the problem. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
Changing the cable is a good first step. While you're examining the TV cable, make sure that the connector on the back of the TV is good and tight. You've ruled out the TV sound as the culprit, that leaves only the cable and the f connector it is attached to.
