Car Door Sign
My finger was slammed in a car door so the nail is half ripped off. Do I have to get it removed?
Nail is black and blue and actually popping out over the cuticle and I am worried about an infection. No signs yet but don't know the proper protocol for this type of injury.
I was living in Australia, Queensland Makay. A no nothing farm town in the early 70's. Happen to be catching wild ducks in a old marsh with old brackish stagnate water, me and my mates. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Knee deep in water, lighting fast I dove head first at a duck and missed. I crashed into the water and my fingers crashed into a submerged tree catching my index finger on a limb and impaling it under my nail. No big deal, we looked at it, made some jokes and off we go back to town. Doctors are not on a 11 year old kids list of people to see. Three days later I'm in a chair holding my arm looking at a black, swollen, infected mess of what use to be a good nose picking finger and this cracked out whacked out doctor is spraying something on my finger tip "to numb it" so he says and turns around, turns back again and comes at me with basically chrome plated pliers. With no reaction time on my part, Dr. Death grips the black swollen nail and rips it clean off!! No discussion of "this may hurt", or "you'll feel a little pressure"....just rips it clean off!! I'm sure the bandaging took less time then it took to clean the piss off the floor and out the door I go. My dad told me, "Son, you will always remember it hurt, but you'll never remember the actual pain". The F...ck is that! Nail regrew, much stronger I might add and to this day 38 years later the nail is stronger then the others. But my respect for doctors has not changed.
My suggestion- Get some antibiotics and pull it off yourself while drinking heavily, it will hurt like hell, but you did it to yourself and you'll have a story to tell 38 years from now....carry on the legacy.
OR- because of the traumatic injury when digit was compressed, reason it's swollen, because of the trauma injury, blood is trapped and needs release. Many times a paper clip heated red hot and pierced through the nail will allow a pressure release. Nail will fall off on its own, as nails are dead anyway. Nails grow after death. Clean out daily, soap, Hydrogen peroxide and warm water. Watch for red color as its signs of infection, keep warped during the day and leave open to air at night...and prepare for it to hurt for several weeks as you bang it every 22 minutes on something.

What Gets Noticed First the Car Or the Graphic?
Out on the street it is not extremely typical to see a vehicle with mobile advertising, so the question stands, which do you, notice first the type of vehicle and the color or the graphics on the vehicle?
