Cap Neon Sign
Poem help please, I'm a dummy.?
I have this poem below its called "My Father in the Navy: A childhood memory" y Judith Ortiz Cofer" I totally dont understand this poem, can somebody translate it for me? Thank you I really appreciate it.
Stiff and immaculate
In the white cloth of his uniform
and a round cap on his head like a halo,
he was an apparition on leave from a shadow- world
and only flesh and blood when he rose from below
the waterline where he kept watch over the engines
and dials making sure the ship parted the waters
on a straight course.
mother, brother and I kept vigil
on the nights and dawns of his arrivals,
watching the corner beyon the neon sign of a quasar
for the flash of white our father like an angel
heralding a new day.
His homecoming were the verses
we composed over the years making up
the siren's song that kept him coming back
from th bellies of iron whales
and into out nights
like the evening prayer.

Does the spark gap in a Tesla Coil need to be before or after the capacitors?
I'm building a Tesla Coil for a science project and I was looking at wiring diagrams and I keep seeing ones with the spark gap before the caps and other ones with it after the caps. Does it matter? I'm using a neon sign transformer and planing to get it at 9000V and 30ma.
It depends on whether the capacitor is in series with the primary coil, or in parallel with it.
If the cap is in series with the primary, then the spark gap must be across the output of the neon transformer, 'before' the capacitor.
If the cap is in parallel with the primary, the spark gap should go in between the cap and the primary to interrupt the tank circuit. This method is preferrable if you have a current limited transformer (as is the neon transformer).
If you had a non-current-limited transformer the first method is preferrable.
