Will Miller change their advertising on "MGD 64" as a result of Anheiser Busch having a lighter beer?
Over the past few months I saw advertisements on television regarding "MGD 64" was the lightest beer in the market.
"MGD 64. As light as it gets."
Recently I saw this new beer at the grocery store called "Budweiser Select Light" and it had only 55 calories in it. That made me wonder if Miller should change their advertising campaign. What do you think about this?
In case you were wondering, I don't drink watered-down beer like Bud Select.
There is precedent in advertising that once a product is branded as "The Most" or "The Least" or whatever, that can continue to be used.... however this was generally after years or decades of use, not being outdone in a few years.
They can also claim that "light" refers to flavor and back it up with a pseudo-study showing that more people think MGD64 tastes more like water than BSL.
Either way, they're both terrible and the brewmasters who brew them should be ashamed of themselves.
