Bud Beer Bar
OK so cases of American beer Schlitz, Budweiser,etc. 50 years old in there cases in a basement,unopened,any go
purchased old bar from early 50's, found in basement cooler about 30-50 original cases and kegs of assorted beers bud,schlitz, hosmer gin and tonic mixes all in great shape 16 ounce older thick bottles still sealed, are they worth anything and my friends are dying to see if beers are still drinkable but i dont want to kill them,ok so is this beer and assorted mixers worth anything and is it still drinkable help me out gang thanks
If it is all standard American macro-brew, then it will taste quite bad. Keep in mind, it can't hurt you, as there are no harmful bacteria that can live in beer.
It is probably oxidized (wet cardboard taste) and flat, or close to it.
The liquor qill be okay if it was sealed properly. It can't go bad.
The mixers will be bad, and they have the potential to get one sick... I'd toss those right away to be safe.
The only way to know for sure with the beer and liquor, is to try it out. You've got nothing to lose.
As far as its value, there are collectors out there that would love to get their hands on stuff like that. Simply post some stuff on eBay, or do a Google search for "breweriana collectors" or something of that nature. Breweriana is the term used for collectible beer and brewery materials.
The kegs, I would hang onto, if I were you. You can use them for homebrewing, or I've seen bars convert them into everything from trash cans to ashtrays to barstools!
Obviously, you'll have to empty them out first...
Where are you located? I may be interested in getting a couple of empty kegs...

Hops don't play a part in deterioration of beer except in the case of lightstruck beer, where UV rays cause a chemical reaction in the hops that skunks the beer.
That being said, the beer will not be skunky. That is impossible, since it has been kept in a basement away from light for several decades.
Also... beer is good for much longer than 90 days. In fact, even crap Budweiser products are labeled for 120 days. Most domestic macro beers have a brewery-fresh timeline of 4-6 months. After that, they will begin to break down. Most micros and specialty beers can last for significantly longer under the proper conditions.
In fact, I have numerous aged beers in my cellar... collecting and aging beers is a hobby of mine, although this is usually only done with highly bitter or highly alcoholic beers.

Home Brewing Beer - A Fantastic Hobby and Pastime - If You Know How!
Having spent a couple of hours with a friend the other day in our local bar I was staggered at how much the evening had cost. It was the price of a small mortgage! All so we could have a couple of drinks in a bar that had no atmosphere and very few people. The smoking ban really has reduced the amount of customers visiting bars these days. And the cost certainly doesn't help!
So this got me thinking. Why not try brewing my own beer? Many years back I had tried my hand at wine making with some success, well I enjoyed it anyway.
So off I went and bought myself a beer making kit, the bottles, plastic barrel, bucket and pipes, the whole works, and set about making my first batch of home brew beer following precisely the kits instructions.
Each night I would eagerly come home from work and make a bee line for my mini brewery just so I could witness the changes in the fermentation since I had last looked and smell the heady aromour.
Then one weekend came the big day. Bottling up time!
With my wife safely settled in our local shopping centre I spent the whole afternoon happily syphoning the golden liquid into newly washed and sterilized bottles. After leaving the bottles for the specified time, not easy when your taste buds are tormenting you, I invited my friend over for the first ever tasting.
I opened the first bottle and holding it at an angle to the glass I slowly and lovingly poured out the liquid. One glass for me and one for my friend. Cheers, we both said and sipped our first mouthful.
I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it certainly didn't meet my expectations. It tasted kind of odd, and had a strange smell to it. One mouthful was all I wanted. Trouble was I had gallon of the evil smelling liquid.
That was when I realized there is a knack to brewing beer. There is a process to be followed and tricks to be learnt that the home brew instructions simply don't tell you.
Home brewing is a fantastic hobby that everyone can get involved with, and a very cheap way of quenching your thirst.
It's much easier than you would think to make a good home brew once you know all the tricks and secrets.
