Can I create a wireless bluetooth connection by installing an adapter on the printer and a second adapter,?
Same make and kind on the computer to sync? Laptop does not have bluetooth or infrared and the computer is just a generic HP.
If not, what's the least expensive way to wireless connect laptop and printer wireless?
I'm not sure what you were talking about except for the last line LOL. but i'll try to help. there's a few ways to make a laptop and computer wireless.
if you already have a wired router then it is cheaper (sometimes) to add a wireless access point to the router. an AP just adds the wireless ability to your existing router. depending on features you want these can be $10 or $80. If you don't have a router then you need a wireless router. New they range from $30 to $200. the key things to look for are Wifi G access, at least a 4 port switch integrated, and a good brand like Linksys. Most Linksys routers are good solid routers no matter what the model, other brands are good too like Trendnet, D-Link, TP-Link, and Netgear, but they all have some models that are pretty good and some that are total junk, so google around for reviews before buying one. I frequent the Goodwill stores in my area and have amassed a pile of Linksys wifi G routers with 4 port switch, mostly because they are priced at $5 and are too good of a value to let go.
once you have a router your laptop needs a wifi adapter, most laptops have a wifi adapter built-in, if so Yay! if not, you can get a little USB dongle for about $10 that will provide Wifi G access to your laptop, i got a Trendnet one for mine that works quite well. my laptop's integrated wifi died for some reason. once you get that, your laptop will be wireless, make sure to set at least WPA security.
the printer will be the hard part. you can plug your laptop into your printer and "share" it so other laptops or desktops can print to your printer when your laptop is plugged into it and turned on. otherwise its going to get expensive. the easiest way is to buy a new printer with a built-in wireless print server. then you go into the printer's settings and join it to your wireless router. a slightly cheaper way is to buy a wireless print server and plug it into your printer. a print server just plugs into a printer and joins it to the network, most wireless print servers also do wired connections as well. with a print server anyone on your network can print to that printer at any time. they also have options to allow internet printing. so if you are at a friend's house you can print a file to your printer at home, usually it is just 1 setting in your router that allows that.

Bluetooth Wireless In Your Home Office
Bluetooth is a wireless communication protocol that provides a method of wirelessly exchanging data between bluetooth enabled devices. Unlike Wi-Fi which requires more power to operate and a separate configuration for each device, Bluetooth requires low power consumption, is relatively simple to use, and is designed for use in a much smaller area. A network of devices formed around Bluetooth is known as a PAN, or Personal Area Network.
While the technology has been around for over ten years and its use has steadily grown, still relatively few take full advantage of the many capabilities it presents. One excellent use of Bluetooth technology for the consumer is in the home office.
The conversion of a typical home office set up to wireless technology is fairly simple and straightforward. It is not required to have any programming skills or advanced computer skills in order to make it work.
In converting your home office to Bluetooth wireless, the first order of business is acquiring an adapter for your computer. This is a small device which plugs into the USB port of your computer and will allow your computer to communicate with Bluetooth components. Many of these adapters (or dongles) are similar in size to the popular USB flash drives. The adapter becomes the "master" and is capable of communicating with up to seven Bluetooth enabled devices. They are manufactured by many well known companies in the wireless field, such as D-link and Linksys, and are readily available.
Moving on, you may then want to consider a wireless mouse and keyboard. These devices must be purchased with Bluetooth technology pre-installed (there are no converters available for these components). There are a considerable number on the market and most work basically the same. Your choice should be one of personal preference and as these are separate devices it is not necessary to replace both. Several of the more popular models are made by Logitech and Microsoft.
Next step is the printer. While there are several newer printers on the market that are bluetooth enabled, many opt for a printer adapter which will do the same job. If you are in the market for a new printer, it makes sense to buy one that is already Bluetooth capable. If not, adapters are readily available for most printers. They are similar to the computer adapter in that they plug into the printers USB port. There are also several models available which will utilize the parallel port for older printers.
