whats the law on neon lights under your car?
is it against the law to have neon lights like blue or red under your vehicle ,is there a clause like you can but not when driving etc.. living in London uk.
The UK law on car neon lighting
There is much confusion on the existing laws about neon lighting products on the roads in the UK. This short article aims to clear up any confusion and to put minds at rest where neon and LED lighting legalities are concerned.
The law isn’t exactly what you could call clear about neons. The general principle is if it distracts the driver or other road users then they shouldn’t be on. However, exactly what is distracting is quite a subjective view.
The laws states that car exterior neon products are allowed providing they are red at the back, orange on the sides and white on the front. In my opinion, that isn’t really a good look to go for but some limo companies prefer this setup as to avoid any trouble from the police. Under-car neon’s should be used OFF THE ROAD ONLY.
You should be safe with interior lighting as long as the lights or LED’s aren’t right in front of the driver’s eyes or in the windscreen, etc. As there is no clear law about car interior neons, you can’t really be pulled for them. However, if they are distracting, you could be pulled. Either be sensible with the installs (e.g. put them in the footwells) or switch them off when you are driving.
It as always a good idea to install a switch so that if you do have problems with the police, just switch them off and I’m sure you will be sent on your way.

Is it concidered impersonating a police officer if i have neon blue lights in the rear window?
these lights are built into a 6x9 speaker, they do not blink, flash or anything, they are just steady blue lights, i want to replace the factory sound system with these but i dont want to be pulled over and fined for "impersonating a police officer" because the factory speakers are located right below the rear window
I'm from minnesota where i know its illegal to have neon undergllow because "its distracting to other drivers". obviously i don't intend to do something stupid like pull someone over, i just want to add a little personality and "bling" to my car. but i'll definitly check with the local PD
