Could you critique my poem?
We had to write a sonnet in my English class because we were doing a unit on poetry. My teacher liked my Petrarchan sonnet but I wanted to know if other people would. I normally wouldn't want to write anything about love, but that was a requirement of the assignment. So here it is.
My hope for love must be content with scraps;
With cast offs, left behind, which none will take.
Split hearts that rattle under one soft shake,
Give me those sentimental foolish saps.
The way to finding love can have no maps
Nor caution signs (BEWARE: ahead hearts break).
So I will brave the many love forsake,
To find a love which nothing can elapse,
If only because perhaps they who have
Been crushed might just think twice 'fore hurting me.
Too long have we applied a healing salve
To dignity and pride, it's love's sole fee.
Let's see what will be left the heart-breaker
When we, the heart broken, love each other.

Good for you! Sonnets are easy to write...I just divide a paper in ten lines, and start to write...that way, I know I have 10 syllables.
