How many glasses of beer would make you cross alcohol limit for being charged of impaired driving?
If you are being cought by police and unfortunately ur were drunk, then what is the alcohol limit you could be charged with impair driving?
In other words, how many glasses of beer could that be?
1 glass = 300 ml ( In province of Alberta, Canada )
In Alberta, the legal limit is 0.08. However, the police do not traditionally charge unless your blood alcohol level is over 0.1. This builds in a safety margin and is really to the benefit of the person being investigated.
However, in Canada, there are actually TWO charges that you can be charged with if caught driving drunk (Section 253(a) and 253(b) of the Criminal Code). One is for driving with a blood alcohol limit over 0.08. The other is for driving while impaired.
If you blow over 0.08, you will be charged with both. However, if you blow under 0.08 but show various signs of impairement, you can actually still be charged with impaired driving. Another example would be if you blew 0.05 but admit to consuming marihuana and also being tired, then you could be charged with impaired driving.
As such, there is really no way to give an amount, as you could drink one beer but be impaired. There is no "safe" amount.
