Banquet Beer Bottle

For My Wedding Reception How Much Is Tax And Gratuity?
I live in Louisiana, our wedding will be in a banquet room at a restaurant. They charge 16 per person which includes eight food choices, tables, linen, chairs, glasses, silverware, ice, soft drinks, water, set up and clean up. Beer is 3 per bottle and cash bar. 100 guest. We have to pay tax and gratuity aside from these prices. What taxes and how much gratuity is usually asked for and do I additionally tip any servers or bartenders.
Wow, I cannot believe you found a place for only $16.00 per head. Good going.
To figure your tax and gratuity is simple. Take $16.00 per head for one hundred guests, $1,600 times the tax rate in your state will equal the taxes. Then a gratuity rate for that many guests is usually preset by the establishment and can be anywhere from 18% to 25%. Ask them what their built in gratuity rate is and times that amount by $1,600. will get you the gratuity you will be charged.
The cash bar purchases are taken care of at the bar and need not to be taxed. Sometimes guests will leave their own tips for the bartender. However, it would be nice to tip them if they keep the guests happy. In which case a $50.00 tip is what I personally would leave for the bartender. The other servers are given their tips from the establishment through your gratuity and need not get any additional percentage from you again.
Good for you to be so considerate and want to do the right thing and I commend you for finding a place for such a fantastic price. I had no idea this could be done. You are a great example for other brides.

Can a restaurant employer make you pay for shortage of beer bottles or for eating a roll of bread??
I am a bartender and our employer is going to start making us for any missing bottles of beer at the end of our shift, sometimes they have banquets that have all you can drink beer and wine, so how do I suppose to keep track of the bottles not rang in?? or for mistakes that servers or costumers do?? also they said we can be fired if we are found eating a roll of bread.. I worked in many restaurants before and none has ever done anything similar to this?? I grew up in California and I know there it is illegal for the employer to make you pay for things, waste or mistakes is a risk that the employer takes by having a restaurant?? what should I do, should I seek legal help?? I am not the type of person that will take a law suit against people or companies.. I will like to be able to tell them that what they are about to start doing is wrong but I need facts and proof in order to do it??
Hi there,
I think you should check to see if the employment standards law in your jurisdiction covers this. There might be community groups or legal clinics in your area (such as employment rights organizations) that will help you with this info for free. Lawyers are expensive. I would also recommend checking to see if there is any protection from reprisals (eg firing) for people who complain about sub standard practices. Also find out how and with who to file a complaint. Generally the first thing you would do when you are fully informed is talk to your employer. But that is very hard to do if you have a jerk for a boss. If that doesn't work, or you don't want to do it, file a complaint.
I live in Ontario, Canada, and here there is legislation that states that the employer cannot deduct from your wages because of "faulty work". So, here, a dine and dash, or broken dishes, or missing bottles cannot be deducted. Many people in the industry do not realize this, and are surprised to hear it. It may be the same in your area.
Good luck!
