Everyone's point of view will be different especially depending on what they are going through in their lives. For me, I am bored right now and this is what I think, feel and see when I look at these paintings:
Gerhard Richter-Sea Wave: I felt turmoil, heartache, falling into despair with no end in sight. Feeling cold and alone in a vast sea where anything can happen.
Edward Ruscha-Jar of Olives Falling: I felt dizzy like having drunk too many martini's and due to the buzz, feeling real spacey and on mars. Thinking, wow, mars is inhabited by people.
Anselm Kiefer-Book with Wings: I feel that it is symbolic for education and that by reading you can soar like an eagle and travel and go places that only the imagination can take you. I also felt secure in that the wings represent protection and also felt a godly presence.
Melissa Miller-The Ark: The dark colors remind me of renaissance art by Di Vinci and Michalangelo and others of the 15th century. Art then was symbolic in the colors used, the positioning of the items/persons in the paintings. Melissa's use of deep colors reminds me of this. Unfortunatly, I couldn't find a good copy of the Ark to get a closer look at, but from what I can tell it looks like the animals are going left and right and foward and my first impression is total chaos, no organization.
If I could see these paintings in their original sizes my impressions and feelings would be more in depth and detail.
This was fun...I am interested to know how others answered.
