Animate Motion
Is it possible to make stop-motion animated shorts with a Sony DCR-DVD handycam? Anyone ever tried?
Hello.
I'm taking a guess at this one. I do video shooting and editing, but I've never tried Stop Animation.
From my understanding, Stop-Animation is a very, very detailed art form and mostly requires taking video with a camcorder that's tripod mounted (a MUST) that will stationary and ABSOLUTELY does not move. It MUST keep it's location and focus from beginning to end and you must have LOTS of film or perhaps in your case (if you've recording onto DVD) a good amount of discs for this recording.
To be able to stop and start, stop and start is very time consuming and if you're doing this with clay for example (the Grommett children series) will take time to pause the camcorder, slightly configure the clay, and the start the camcorder again. Whether there is post video editing involved, I don't know. But it must be maticulas and the lighting consistent from shot to show, day to day until the final product is completed.
