Air Circulator How do I bleed my baseboard boiler system?
I have a boiler with baseboards. Bleed valves are on each baseboard, and all are on one level. I need a tutorial on how to bleed the system.
1) Do I need to bleed the whole system at once?
2) Do I need to bleed the valves in any order?
3) Should the boiler swtich be turned on or off when I bleed?
4) Should the furnace be running or not when I bleed?
5) Does the circulator need to be pumping or not when I bleed?
6) How long do I need to bleed at each valve? Just till it doesn't spit air?
7) I have one room, at the end of the system loop, whose baseboard goes cold a lot. Is that a symptom of a problem, or is it just routine? (I just had the circulator pump replaced last year.)
1) yes
2) start at the lowest radiator then work your way up to the highest radiator last
3) off always
4) never run furnace
5) never
6) until all the air is out and you can fill up a 16oz. cup with water
7) could be an air lock problem need to get all the air out and it should run fine
Before you do any of this turn off the valve feeding the expansion tank that should be located above the boiler then drain out as much water as possible this could take several hours because the tank will be gulping air as it is draining after you bleed the system and before you turn the furnace back on just open the valve to this tank.
GOOD LUCK!

Honeywell 2-in-1 Air Circulator and Turbo Force Fan
The circulator pump for my boiler is running scorching hot, is this normal?
It is a forced hot water gas boiler. The pumps are Taco circulating pumps on the return line.
Is the pump damaged? Can it happen from too much air in the system?
No. The motor is probably bad. If you turn off the water, and take the 4 bolts out of the housing, the motor will slip out. Take it to a plumbing supply place, and they can match up a new one. This way is a lot easier, and cheaper than buying a new pump.
