12 Volt Neon Light Transformers
18 volts instead of 12 volts?
I have a neon light, from the light it connects directly into a transformer that puts out 1500V/ 15mA. Originally it was supposed to plug into a cigarette lighter in a car but i snipped the wire because I don't want the wiring to be visible. However I don't have a 12volt battery so I have been using (2) 9V batteries hooked up in a series which plugs directly into the transformer that is intended for 12V. Question is, am I damaging the bulb?
The bulb can take any voltage, but you may end up burning out the transformer if you run it at a higher voltage than recommended.
